I did have some problems with short trips but it may have been the battery, I've since replaced it with a yellow top and have had no issues. It charges at 14.0V which I'm told is a bit low.

And that fits straight in where the standard battery goes?

I had to bend a wire on a terminal, move a small fuse box and use the spacer that came with the battery. It was a pretty easy job.

100% agreed
After going back to standard on mine my engine temps dropped by approx 7deg across the board. I watch my gauges like a hawk so knew straightaway.

25% U/D on my cammed L98 and no issues with temp, or voltage / charging, but I've heard similar comments from others too, so not sure why an U/D does or dosn't have this affect from car (talking VE) to another.

VZ Lumina..... VEII Equipe Sportswagon
Underdrive kit has been on my VZ for two and half years and travelled a touch over 85,000km, had no problems with it just a new belt change for peace of mind.
(I should point out my mileages covered are in rural-remote areas with around 85% use at highway speeds.)
Another with a BF XR6 Turbo clocked just over 35k with the kit with a mixture of rural & city driving.... same deal no problems. (I could add a couple of VE’s, BA’s, and a Territory to that list)
Apart from a couple of blokes having an upgraded exhaust system, all of our cars are stock sixes.
Not sure why others had problems with the kit, but I reckon contacting that bloke at Mace Engineering would have an answer.
