If you have signal after ecu & at wire to dash plug behind glove box you're basically on fault finding mission from that plug to cluster.
Only thing Im not sure on is if you're using map based vs 304 into series 3 vs ute then maybe getrag has different type of signal to 4l60e vss.
Iirc on pcmhacking forum getrag & vs series 3 or vt 4l60e had different type of signal to earlier vr/vs vss...not 100% as wasyears ago looking into it with series 3 v8 conversion into my lc torrie
