Not sure what section to post this, I thought here as good as any,
So, I fitted my VCM OTR today, and after doing a search for some installation guidance, was unable to find much that was helpful.
And as I have the day off work I thought I would do a quick "how to".
First things first -
1. I am not a mechanic, and don't pretend to be.
2. This is just a run through how I installed it, It may be wrong. (Happy for anyone else to point out mistakes/suggest better idea's).
Step 1 - Disconnect the battery.
Step 2 - Remove radiator shroud.
Step 3 - Remove old air take box, maf and pipe work (you may feel like putting the air box back in after the install, for a more factory look).
Step 4 - At this point I placed the OTR over the plastic on top of the radiator and marked a rough outline.
Step 5 - Unplug the electric fans and move wiring out of the way.
Step 6 - Using a small coping saw, cut and remove the plastic as marked. The bottom of the OTR needs to sit ontop of the radiator itself.
Step 7 - Using a file or chisel etc. remove burs from plastic and clean up cuts.
Step 8 - Fit OTR using supplied rubber boot and clamps, making sure the front lip of the OTR fits in between the radiator and the condenser.
Step 9 - Fit sensor that was removed from the stock intake pipe into the grommet on the OTR.
Step 10 - If you would like to make the install a little neater, cut to radiator shroud to fit around the OTR (take your time doing this, this is the one part I would like to do over, getting a little over excited).
Hopefully if someone reads this, I have worked out how to put my crappy phone photos here.
Please excuse the dirty engine bay.
Cheers,
Tones.
