get the manual and upgrade the clutch and put in a ripshift

stock clutch heavy, slips and sluggish
stock shifter is heavy and jigsaw-ish

single mass flywheel = lighter fun, never slips, quicker response
ripshift = easier to use, shorter throw and better drivability, even in peak hour traffice

i would say these mods made the car more drivable, for everyday use, clutch isnt overheated in peak hour traffice...ever... and NEVER slips....and fun when it comes to 'spirited driving'

edited to add: auto = boring

2007 VE SV6 Manual - Morpheous
I've got a 6 speed SV6 which I've had for 12 months and I love it. Smooth gearbox, easy and fun to drive, even around town

VE ss ute hopefully, or ss-v
manual for the win!!!!!!! not that i'm biased or anything. who cares that they throw the $2000 optional automatic in for free from new, when you sell you manual years down the track, it will be worth at least 2k more than its automatic counter part, and you paid no extra for it! lol manual for the win mate, had 2 ve v6 manual's so far, and love both of them
