If the Ute was noisy brutal angry what mods were done to it to make it that way?

Maybe the failure of the clutch, pressure plate and diff were due to the extra power or the way it was driven.

If I'm reading it right, how does one get a defect for fitting a Truetrac diff?

I've owned a few modded VE's and not had the problems you've had.

I like all the extra content in the VF but I much prefer the build quality of the VE.

Pan head sorry just not well punctuated , the defects were not for the diff , they were ride hight , MAF less tune and being too loud and tyres
VE had a stupid big cam in it when I bought it so probably a bomb waiting to go off . It wasn't stupid power from memory 320 klw at the tyres
The cam was horrible it was only ever good at WOT so that was the reason for munting the clutch the thing would pig root at low speed .
Removing the lightened fly wheel with the clutch replacement helped a bit and had it a better map done when getting fixed up after the defect.
But all the other stuff had nothing to do with the power , it only had 130,000 k on it when the cam bearings failed most likely due to the valve overlap and tune .
Buyer beware I should of not purchased such a badly modified SS.
IMO the VF drives so much smother and touch wood no issues but it doesn't even have 20,000 k on it yet .

Sorry badly punctuated , defect was not from the diff but MAF less tune, ride height noise ect
Yes it was modified .....badly by the previous owner , the cam was too big so lumpy and pig rooted at low speed hence the clutch frying .
It was only good at WOT , horrible to drive in traffic just awful .But I didn't drive around doing burn outs hitting the limiter all the time.
It had a lightened fly wheel , removed that when did the clutch which helped plus a re map.
All the other faults had nothing to do with the power 320 klw at the tyres from memory which is not over the top.
First fuel pump failed at 120,000 it lasted 13 months .Cam bearings went at 130 k game over =engine out so traded it .
So buyer beware totally my fault for purchasing a highly modified SS.
I prefer the VF it's ride quality and supercharged LSA engine is smooth it has a cam but a mild one with the Walkinshaw 557 pack
