does it go away when it warms up ? sounds like lifter maby u can hear it does clear up a couple times between the ticking so its prob a lifter not staying pumped up, if u can work out which side its on then take the cover off and get each cylinder on TDC and push on each rocker and there may be one that will squish down a little showing its not holding oil, what lifters u got ?
Broken ones.

Yes it goes away when it warms up.

what lifters u got ?

The lifters are LS7 lifters. The lifters and buckets were replaced 16,000 kms ago in Dec 2021 when the new heads went on.

those are usually good unless u have too much spring on them, but since it goes good when warmed up sounds like the cold oil isn't flowing thru it or the little non return is sticky when cold, could try a thinner cold oil see if it helps, if not might have to check lifter out, if they are tight then even tho they have noise shouldn't be causing issues just noise but if they are loose then could cause issues over time

I heard there was issues with knock off lifters and buckets a while ago

Maybe you ended up with Chinesium parts, maybe not, but there's alot of fake stuff floating around everywhere at the moment

There was a thread asking about it too.

This clip is after a long drive and the car was hot. I started the car after waiting 60 minutes to let the lifters bleed down. It sounds worse now.

I think it sounds like a truck. My wife thinks it's a tractor.

I would not be driving it with that noise happening.

Heads off for a look.
