If you're on the fence about it, there's a good chance you will end up getting them anyway. Best to get them now before your tune or you're going to be forking out another $800 or whatever they charge to have it re-tuned when you shove headers on the thing. I didn't do headers because I was happy with what I got from just the OTR and tune, and if I do get them in the future it wont be for like a year or more so I'll deal with it when I get there.

Decided against headers. Can't justify the cost for a measly 10kw

What about the torque? Why not just get some cheap HSV headers?

Yeah, was thinking of getting some used HSV VE Tri Y's, but have been told they're not a straight bolt on item onto a VF and that the gains would be very minor.

I'm guessing it's about a 20nm gain in torque. Not small, but not earth shattering either :)

Headers are more of a power adder later on when you have more mods to go with. That being said though they do make a substantial difference to how the car sounds, you will get more of a beefy note with a full system. If you run stock bits up front and then a catback, you have restricted air coming out into larger pipes and that's what resonates and ruins the note.

Correct with more valve train noise as well and on top of that a 3 inch system is less likely to drone than a 2 1/2.

Got the car back today. Went from 209rwkw to 245rwkw. Pretty decent gain from just OTR and tune (assuming I got the bhp to kw conversion correct.

Only drove it a short distance so can't tell if noticeable gain in performance, though it sounds a shitload better

Pretty much the end result RWKW I got from mine, I think mine may have been 243 or something. But the sound difference alone made it well worth it. For me the main thing I noticed if you just use the Automatic (if i recall correctly yours is and they did the shift points for you?) is the shift points are much nicer.

Yeah, the gearbox feels much better now. Felt very lazy before.

Definite power difference to before, now that I've caned it a bit. . And the sound with the marriage savers gives me half a mongrel each time I give it some
