anything is possible but why if your not building a high rpm race engine
Can drill or tap/add head drain hoses into sump but wouldn:t do anything fast due to crankcase pressure unless you use a pump to work all the time
easier to just get a bigger sump to hold more oil to make up the time excess oil drains back into sump.

Do you mean the timing chain oiler?

Yeah he said it didn't have oiler.

Most go about restricting oil to top end first hence roll pins & roller rockers.

After that can drill out & chamfer pushrod holes & oil drainback.
Move breathers or add to manifold.
Drain back added to rocker covers with lines back to sump.

Then can think about cooling system tricks if game like diy water recirculation mod HDT did to rear water passages & finding cast impellor blade water pumps.

See if this thread turns into sticky if op does all the ol' skool tricks lol

I was looking at increasing capacity of sump

Have also assumsump 3 litre accumulator was going to use in boat however would be better suited to 5 litre

Looking at heads in weekend
Wonder whether you can drill the oil drains out a little

Cam bearing removal/install turned up today
First time I’ve taken the bearings out myself, easy to use

Now need to look at restricting #4 cam bearing
Need to have another read of come and geoff article so we get it right first time

Getting them out is the easier part, getting the cam bearings in dead square is the hard part. I hope you succeed first time.

The later model vs & vt sumps were best of the stockers as had more baffling.

Top of range would be big dog ASR sump with external pickup & pan mods to suit stroker

not ready to stick them back in yet, will get the rest of oil system sorted and then figure out the pickup think I quite like the look of the external pickup

If you drill a new oil feed for the lifter gallery on the front cam bearing than you can block off the factory cross feed at the number 4 bearing or drill and tap the number 4 bearing, fit a grub screw with only a small hole in the centre. IIRC the front cam bearing gets it's oil feed from the main oil gallery and you don't need the number 4 cross feed. As mentioned above, we don't need a huge amount of oil going to the lifters as it just gets pumped up into the heads but you do want some oil getting up there as oil is also a cooling medium for the valve springs.

Oil drain back issues are really only a problem if you keep the engine at sustained high revs, the real solution is to reduce windage in the crankcase as high crank case pressure hold the engine oil in the top of the motor, relieve the crankcase pressure and oil drain back is much less of an issue.

need to sort out 8mm x 1.25 tap to install the grub screw into #4 bearing
lock down will slow this down a little
Put some feelers out for a larger sump but no takers
had a look at the existing baffling from GM which doesn't appear to be that bad, as looking down the bore you can see the sump is completely sealed off with baffling

so thought I would have a crack at making my own using the existing sump and add more capacity
still like the idea of side entry pickup, however we will get to that latter

mocked up with some cardboard to get an idea.
had some plate here,
tacked up at present while i sort out the wings
Interesting when I cut open the bottom of oil pan it was clear that didn't get all the crap off underside of baffle, and I thought I gave that a good hosing with water blaster
