what does a diff usually cost to install? and is it big? like would ya need more than a ute to pick it up from tha wreckers to tha mechanics?

Should fit in the back of a ute of worries. Just run a tape measure across what you've got now and compare that to the space in the ute tray.

I replaced the diff in my old VK some years ago now. Just did it in the driveway with a couple of stands and spanners / sockets. The hardest part was probably undoing the nuts that had been on there for donkeys.

It was a bit time consuming...took most of an arvo to do it but with two of us it wasn't too hard.

Not sure on the cost to get someone to do it. Wouldn't think it would be too much though...especially when they can put the car up on a hoist. Probably a few hours labour if you supply the diff.
