series 3 ute
hi, im a newby. i have a series 3 ute and upon nutting out tardy front end ive discovered its got a brake upgrade. calliper # is K247-037C and the pads are bd 1331. there is a fair bit of float in the rotor. can anyone assist with a part number for the correct hub for that set up. also are vt 1 and vt 11 onwards running different hubs . thanks

thanks fpr the input guys. im still pretty confused. i think ill have to pull the brakes apart and measure the rotor. it has a standard vt calliper on it and a metal booster. apparently vs boosters were plastic? a mechanic i know that specialises in street to track reckons he has never seen nor heard a series 3 ute with factory vt brakes. its all very interesting just the same....

Yeah would be interesting to know if they are a factory fitment. Either way they are a better brake setup but a bit of fiddling round to fit them. Markovr on here would know the details about either id say.

Definitely not factory. Someone has done the upgrade. When you say "float", how is it moving? Is there a gap between the centre hole and the hub?

yes thats what it is. the rotor is not a tight fit on the hub or the wheel studs. there seems to be quite a lot of movement ( float ) in all directions. because i am getting a bad shimmy in the steering wheel when braking at any speed over 70kmh i am pretty concerned as i travel nearly 300 ks a day for work. i purchased new hubs, rotors and pads based on my vin # but the shop discovered they were vt twin piston cllipers. i have no idea what sort of upgrade has been done so i really have no idea what parts to source for the mechanic to fit. like i said earlier, the calliper is standard vt. i want new hubs, rotors and pads put in and i am trying to save $ by getting my own parts. i thought it would be fairly easy to get rotors and hubs to suit a calliper that i know the part # for. how wrong can one be??

Are there brackets in between the caliper and the mount? Or does the caliper bolt directly to the stub axle? The problem with a VT upgrade is that there are so many ways to do it. What's wrong with the hubs now? Are the bearings noisy?

na mate, the bearings arent noisy at all. i like this car and ive had a new clutch put in new complete tailshft and bearings etc plus lots of other things done. its got well over 400,000ks on the clock and i want to stiffen it all up. taking all that into account i hopefully will do another 400,000ks i have allways had holdens and i have a soft spot for this one and learning more about what bolts to what etc interests me
