To see if it got 185i package check it has knock sensor/memcal...hsv were basically same as calais steel headers, later vs had hsv logo on mufflers although not sure which cars that started on tbh.

As long as hsv logo items still there bragging rights it's all good.

HSV VS Maloo , 2002 Monaro
Yeah, my maloo's may 96 build , got hsv stamped staino mufflers .
Surely hsv can say what options went on it , Holden might also know / have build info.
185i options would be the most common .

So it's basically not a specific production run of a particular HSV model, but rather a "customer special" done to order. HDT did this sort of thing all the time.

Regardless you still made out like a bandit I reckon.

The way HSV told me it works is...
You have HSV production car with build numbers (No. 6 of 32) this is for genuine HSV only
Then you have a Standard production car with HSV Package added for about $2500, This build number (837) is actually the job number for this car. When fitted with this package you got an ENHANCED tag fitted to the car.
HSV can't tell you how many Enhanced Models were build in total, maybe Holden not sure.
Seems to be the early version of HBD (Holden By Design) style of things.

I'm stoked you picked up a 185i.
That rear section of exhaust will be easy for you to rebuild and get back on.

First things first, fresh oil (HPR30 is my pick, but make sure whatever it is has high zinc for the flat tappet cam) If the oil hasn't been changed for a while it could sludge up meaning you will get the famous oil pickup block the 304's are known for. Also never use oil flush on them, fresh trans fluid (good idea if the trans has been suss), coolant flush (the alloy manifolds corrode badly with old coolant that sat around).

Looks great from the pics for the price, mines got a 185 engine too out of a senator (but that doesn't mean much as the actual engine of a 185 is identical as a standard other than knock sensors and a tune) but at least yours has a nice plate to say so :)

Also looks like you have one of the only statesmans in existence with a mint leather wheel, make sure you condition it regularly, I had to have mine retrimmed as the previous owner let it dry out and it cracked.

Im following that way SG360, tomorrow im getting 2 rear tyres 17x45x235 ($125 each) then the Power Steering Pump ($158) from eBay.
From there i will book it into the exhaust shop get the back muffler done. Maybe ($300)
Next is the RWC and Rego, Flushing of motor and radiator then give the brakes a flush with new pads or what ever is needed...

Yes the steering wheel is in good cond as are the leather seats.

My biggest down fall is the mileage, 289000K on it.
