Hi guys, 5 mins into my drive home the ute just died, no power.. turned key nothing.

A friend (wiz kid auto elect) suggested the Alternator had died. I have a new spare one here i will try in the morning. Looking to what else it might be?

Symptoms that seem a bit strange: Reds lights come on dash but no crank, key fob won't lock/unlock doors, key in drivers door won't lock passengers door.
No red light flashy/ immobilizer.

Tow truck arrives, throws booster on battery tries to jump it but same no crank, nothing.

Just changed the Alt and same no crank.
Blinkers work, Radio works, reds on dash but no flashy red light on console.

Had similar issues a while back being the Key Fob, wonder if it's the same issue?
Could it die while driving, immobilizer activated or such?

If not for the blown fuse I’d have started with the immobiliser system. Your symptoms are the same as trying to start it whilst in drive. The fuse is a bit weird. I don‘t recall any fuel system interlocks that would stop the starter cranking and on that, check the starter wiring to ensure you haven’t had a cable terminal come loose.

For it to stop dead in motion it sounds like a dead short has killed the pump fuse and the same short has damaged the starter or immobiliser system. Good luck and remember to post the outcome.

It’s got the better of me so I shelved what I was doing to have a look at the wiring diagrams. The fuel pump fuse also fuses power to the Body Control Module. Same for the key receiver unit. That fuse supplies power to a range of systems.

How is the replacement fuel pump fuse? If the original fuse blew, whatever caused it to blow, may take out the next fuse.
I'd also be looking at the fuel pump relay? Maybe that has shorted & is taking out the f/pump fuse?

tried the paper clip to read to codes, 12 came up 3 times.

Fuel Pump Fuse keeps blowing, if i turn it ignition to red it blows the fuse.

If that is the case i wonder if the BCM has died or shorting out?
