Hi, Ive had this issue since I bought the car. After starting the engine I need to rev it over 2000 rpm to get the alternator to start charging and then it sits at 16.5 volts. The alternator is brand new, the battery has been checked and no leads show any significant voltage drops. I did some measurements on the L and S terminals on the alternator. The L side has 0v with ignition off and 12v with ignition on. The S terminal is what confused me, it has 12v coming from the battery and 8.16v coming from the alternator itself countering the battery voltage.
