Transmission Gully is open now, so there are 2 lanes each way from Wellington to Peka Peka.
Peka Peka to north of Otaki is due to open around Set/Oct this year

Yeah, we drove over the new transmission gully about 2 months ago. Nice bit of road but a hell of a climb/descent though. But from the end of transmission gully to Otaki was absolute murder.
