Just see if the engine loom plugs into pcm? If so l think its just a matter of linking the bcm to the pcm with the correct scan tool. ex. tech 2.

If the engine loom & pcm came out of the same car, should be ok. Install everything engine pcm, link pcm & bcm should start? Got petrol?
Nah the BCM is the original one that the car came out with. Ecu came out of a VY. So I’m guessing it won’t start without getting it programmed.

This is correct it will need to be linked, if it will work on a VX.

Thats what l said. The vx bcm has to be linked to the vy pcm (new motor).

Yeah sweet thanks for the info. Anyone know roughly how much it would cost for someone to link em together?

Step 1. Buy good donor car, either engine.
Step 2. Sell first car.

Because it’s for a mate who’s on his p’s. Plus the car was originally a 6.
Well you might as well sell it as a rolling shell and say that it's ready for another V8 to be installed... Then just buy a V6 Commodore with everything ready to go... It will save you from lots of headaches which is really not worth it for an Ecotec...

Ring a mobile mechanic & ask if he can do it, if not stay on the phone.

I was having a think about this last night. what concerned me was the vt vx are wiring are different. The difference is where one engine loom plugs into the main loom under the drivers side, near the brake booster.

Before plugging in check both the engine looms for differences.

Here's the workshop manual compliments of @Fu Manchu . https://mega.nz/file/Oex2gYyI#5m8benPFSI_DQLGKyDvaA_tXZS0HMWUjzef_q0lv27g Download to PC then check the wiring differences where the looms goes into the cabin.
You'll also need pdf reader. Here's the adobe one. https://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/
There are other ones.
Hope this helps.

With the right tools & know how, the job is easily doable.

Link them why not just get vats diabled in memcal & get 98 premium tune.

Immobiler/alarm etc still works just needs matching bcm/keyhead....atleast that is what I did with vy sv8 that got a mafless tune & U.S ecu
