VX SS
I have a 2002 VX SS that I have a starting issue with. I try and start the car and I just get a one click i then turn the key off and back on and it starts sometimes I have to turn it off and on a number of times before it start and over times it will kick over 1st it seems to be getting harder and harder by having to turn it on and off more and more. It has a new battery, new key reader new and new Ignition barrel. I have also ran a new earth wire from Battery to engine and swap the high beam relay over with the starter. I see it has happened to a few ppl however can't see what the issue was.

Check out the attached. Might be wise to get your car scanned for error codes, with a Tech2 or equivalent tool, (particularly history codes) before you throw any further money at the problem.

Check voltage and continuity of leads to Starter, both the main power and the solenoid.
Check when off and when trying to start. Give them a shake to and see if the readings fluctuate.
The wires can break down with heat/age and not give 12v when trying to start.
We had this in a VZ and replaced battery and starter to no help.
Did the check above an found variable voltage to starter and solenoid.
Replaced both leads and has been sweet since.

^ this.

Took me awhile to figure it out on my first time. We replaced the main lead and the trigger wire and fitted another relay to the trigger wire.

We diagnosed it by the huge voltage drop at the trigger.

I'd be replacing the starter while there. Yes it's a painful job.

Like the others are suggesting, check the positive lead. If the cable strands into the battery terminal clamp are corroded it’ll be good one moment and clicking away the next. I cut the end off, soldered then end up and replaced the battery clamp. Took me months to work it out.
