Hey guys,

Just wondering what would be best to increase the power created from an ecotec?
Im not expecting performance like a v8, but traveling at 100km/h in 5th gear it just seems to be lacking. Even the smallest of hills and it just starts to die away.

Any easy mods? or should i start saving for an ls1 to drop into it?

Car has done 155xxxkm. Just serviced it. Runs smoothly

Thanks
When I had a VX Ecotec , it was ok on hills , but as has been mentioned -
Intake
exhaust
Bored out throttle body
tune to suit ^^^^
high ratio rockers

The ecotec needs to be revved to make peak power and torque, especially when towing something heavy uphill.. On VS ecotecs, peak power is reached at 5200 PRM, and peak torque is reached at 3600 rpm, and Id say the later model ecotecs would have pretty much the same peak power and torque figures...

Definitely, let the revs do the work rather then trying to make the engine labour up the hill at low revs. That' why I think V6 models can really do with some diff gears if you lug a lot of heavy loads.

Diff gears will help you a lot......my VS used to do 70% freeway driving, the 3.45's really helped it feel less sluggish

buy ecotec engine
put it on stand, strengthen bottom end and single turbo would do the trick

going with knocking it back a gear. Didnt realise that the ecotec didn't have much power down low in the rev range.

Thanks guys :)
