Vy ecotec engine removal without gearbox ?

Brought a cheap Vy berlina has a rod knock , currently taken the original engine out ( all bolt ons disconnected, only engine mounts left and gearbox
Is it possible to remove the engine with the gearbox ( take out the gearbox bolts and torque converter bolts ) will the motor seperate from the gearbox or is it a hassle with the spline?

It will seperate from the trans as long as you have bellhousing and coverter bolts out. Make sure to push the converter back towards trans once it is unbolted.

If you are refitting make sure you do a spin and push on the converter to ensure it is right back, can damage the converter and pump in the trans if you dont
