True, but isn’t there a o-ring on that pipe where it’s leaking ?
If that is where the pipe is connected to the Thermostat housing then yes. Yes there is an o-ring there. A bit hard to tell in the pic.

You might get lucky and just need to get that changed.

That pipe in question that goes to bottom of the Radiator,
Can I assume its the same one that is used on the LFX's,
Because I have one here that I got from my nephew with a o-ring on it after we did the LFX > LFX swap,
and the o-ring looks fairly new.
Cleaned the pipe up with steel wool, and came up band new,
apart from a very small dent in the side of it.

Thermost at the back of the motor,
Why would they do that !
No wonder people hate Engineer’s !
L67 was first mounted East-West in the American cars before it came here.
Thermostat would have been a dream to change then.

Look at that o-ring just laughing.
A tiny bloody o-ring can unleash some grief no one needs.

And in the worst possible position!
I thought I may have received the replacement O-ring by Friday, but they didn't arrive,
As I was planning to replace it this weekend, to get another job out of the way.

I must say, on the really hot days we had here in Melbourne, I mean high 30's
The Temperature sat just a little over the 1/4 mark on the gauge, and ran great,
I also hope the Heat would have softened/thinned the gunk build up in the crank case and thinned it out,
So possible time for another oil and filter change.

I‘m sure the engineer wanted the thermostat to be moved but the accountants overruled any further “unnecessary” spend

So hating engineers is misguided  since all our maintenance difficulties can all be tracked back to accountants
