Maybe a VZ is different to a VE, but I'm stuffed if I can see or find a bleed screw on my 3.6 2009 VE.

Any body with a VE put a pic up please if you can find it. Thanks. Reaper should be able to put me out of my misery.

Replacing coolant requires a bit more work than just draining the radiator. You will also need to drain the engine block and associated hoses and flush the entire system with fresh water. Suggest you go to a radiator specialist who will hook a device into your hoses, set it running and it will do all the work without the heartache etc.

So last night took off the bottom hose of the radiator let it drain hooked it back up filled it, turned it on let it run with the heater on high, I unscrewed the bleed screw and filled it till water came out of the bleed screw. Then topped up my overflow tank. After that I let it run for a while then drove it half an hour home from work and it stayed on cool all the way home.

I'll check the water pump, heater tap and the pressure cap as well as checking for seeping when I get to work

Thanks for everything guys

Oh and my missus has a ve so I'll see if I get a photo of the bleed screw on it for you gossie

Thanks Dawzie looking forward to a pic of the VE.........Is it in the same place as your VZ?

Benboy, I fully understand where your coming from, and I appreciate your post. As I mentioned earlier I have everything here to do it, and intend to only drop the bottom hose, but will re-do it all again shortly and that will get most of the old coolant out I'm sure. Will of course be having the heater open.

The only thing that's got me tossed is this secret bleed screw. FWIW I've worked on cars for a long time and have changed coolant on them OFTEN rather that the period suggested by GM for my VE or any other car I've had.
