Hey guys,
Lowered my sv6 bout a month ago, was just gonna throw a set of new springs in it, but i know a guy who used to turn spanners for a holden racing team a few years back, here in NZ. He reckons the FE2 shocks and other suspension components begin to deteriorate in performance somewhere around 80,000kms, and since mine has don 60k i thought i'd upgrade the whole package....
- Low king progressives, with KYB shocks on all four corners
- Nolathane sway bar end links
- Nolathane adjustable castor rods & bushes
The only concern i had was that the ride of the car was gonna be stiff & unbearable, since the FE2 package is already quite stiff.
However, the ride is perfect and the beast drives like its on rails, not a hint of body roll. Money well spent and am glad i went the extra mile to upgrade more than just the springs.

Yes, I am still running all stock sedan FE2 suspension gear apart from the springs. You should be fine with them. I have heard stories that the springs become uncaptive but have never had a problem with this, even when I have a rear corner jacked-up a fair distance the springs are still captive.
Im new to this haha im wanting to put SSL in the rear and im running 19s with stock shock would i have to replace the shocks with springs or should the springs be enough m

I recommend that you fit shortened shocks when you fit the springs.
What people tend to forget is that the factory shock and spring are engineered to work together in harmony.
And so are some specific brands of aftermarket springs and shocks.
Here is a perfect example:
King Springs and Monroe GT Sport shortened shocks have been engineered to work together.
These two companies have worked together to come up with the range of shortened shocks to suit the range of lowered King Springs.
