Curious if this thing is a heavy breather like early issues they had hence all those oilk leaks? Leakdown test?

Na its the usual I'm an ls and the rubber in my Metal shim gasket swelled and the shims not sealing a thing thing.

Haven't put the catch can on it yet so can't really comment on the heavy breathing .

Funny about gasket leaks,never had one leak other than sump washer or base of oil filler neck BUT broke plastic tank on radiators every year.

Ute has to wait untill my sle is back on road early next year,have been collecting parts for it & it's still travelling m5 everyday.

Get them in at work Zared Fox was laughing saying that just means it's got over 50ks on the clock so must be real common lol.

Oil light sometimes stays on up to five seconds on initial start up.

Sometimes has nice lifter tick on start up.

Has dropped a lifter for upto a few minutes at temp after 30-45 mins driving.

head bolts
full gasket set
32-3500 Taipan stally ( old boy sold his before I had cash lost his contract. Taipan will have to do was $600 delivered in box with receipt never fitted no one else had a used one and motors coming out n not going back in without a stally)
Melling oe pump
Hopefully bearings aren't toast.

Will go back on the road with an otr as well should rock up this week.

Heads Will stay stock unless a mates in town will have him clean casting marks , quick blend of bowls n gasket match.

Not paying for porting , drove my face through my forearm last week so I can't Port them without a stabilising hand. Having to talk mechanically minded friends through engine removal and lifter swap for me lol.

Can't ride a bike for two months n this things getting worse hopefully just doesn't get lift in pieces til my arms better like other times I've relied on others but I'll have to just roll the dice.

Reckon shaving 241 heads for compression bump is better value & more noticeable than porting when just n/a cammed motor.

I'm not a big fan of shaving heads man. How reliably can you shave them no side effects on an ls? It's got a pro cam install no risks of needing to shim pedestals? Change pushrod length or upset lifter pre load? Timing chain tension issues?

Without changing a camshaft an entire point of static adds 4% on average which yes is 9-11whp in this car but usually can't shave a whole point without other issues and I thought 10:1 with an aggressive 98 curve would go better then say 10.7:1 but with only 30 total degrees timing or something vs 10:1 with 34,36 or these modern motors completely left field on timing n comp?

Power doesn't go up all that much with dyno figures just makes them feel so much punchier.

Depends how big cam is really...ls1 are little more forgiving with piston to valve clearances than bigger engines lol
