the whole take from the rich and give to the poor thing just doesnt make sense. if the only way the government can run this country is to take advantage of its harder workers, then theyve got some problems to fix elsewhere. start by cutting down on bull**** spending

the price of living, including petrol groceries and general ancillaries were already getting to a higher rate before labour came in. the biggest change that is of benifit to me (and most of you) is the workers legislation.

Doesnt matter what government you choose, both are going to charge us more in one particular area to 'run' australia. i am a big believer in MAKING the rich pay a hellava lot more than poorer people. The way things are going the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. I know physical/mental work achieves a rich lifestlye, but for most of us the chance never arrives, and thats what needs to be changed. giving lower class citizens a chance to live a happy life is on the top of my list of suggestions.

Workers legislation. Have you actually fallen for the massive lie campaign which was the ACTU's Your Rights at Work garbage? I don't appreciate being told by KRudd that I will be better off by being looked after by a union. I hate unions with a passion, I got screwed over badly by one once. Why the hell can't I negotiate or trade of benefits if I want to? Labors IR policy is aimed at looking after and promoting the lowest common denominator, full stop.

Making the rich pay more than poor? Are you deluded? Do you expect someone who has worked hard to get themselves into a good financial position to happily subsidise those that think the world owes them a living? I, and many others are in a enviable financial position for a reason. We worked effing hard to get there, and be ***d if I am going to happily let a socialist government take my hard earned and give it to those not as well off. First and foremost, I look after myself and my family. To hell with the others. Nobody is equal, therefore there is no point trying to spread the wealth. Whats mine is mine, not whats yours is mine. And besides, I'd rather be a rich capitalist than a poor socialist.

The minute these pricks were voted in, they started with the crap about means testing and hitting those on higher salaries where it hurts.

And to answer the original question, no I am not happy at all with these idiots. Now its going to cost me heaps more in taxes to subsidise others lifestyle choices. For what?! To make all the coffee sipping lefty socialists feel good about themselves? Its ok for them, champagne socialist bastards!!!! I bet their attitude changes real quick when they start earning decent money themselves!

As the title states, what is your opinion of the current government. Having served 5 months of a 36 month term, do you agree with what polices he's put in place and ones he's currently talking about implementing.

I've got my opinions but ill let them be for now...

Can't complain too much, I'd don't agree with everything they done, but not point in whining about it, I'll leave that for the political fanatics on the forum.

Come on, you started the thread, give us your opinion too.

what i want to know is, if you could go back and have another vote at the election, would you change your vote? thats directed mostly at labor voters

Can't say I'd change my vote.

If you don't help the less fortunate, they cannot become great citizens as yourselves.
less fortunate? they're in the position they're in because of their own doing. if they didnt work hard enough when it counted, why should we help them?

Because people are rich doesn't mean they work harder or have EVER worked harder, now, or to get where they are.

The government is not taking anything away from the rich, so I don't know what all this fuss is about.

What about the stupid aidea Labour have had to pay rich people money to build houses if they are rented 20% below retail. What a load of bull****.

I don't ever want to subsidise paid maternaty leave either.

I do not like all Labour policies, but the Liberal party is a joke of an alternative.

in the words of fry from muturama
If I were registered to vote, I'd send these clowns a message by staying home on election day and dressing up like a clown

nah, but seriously i don't think i'd change my vote. the hubris and 'divine right' mentality that the liberals had, the notion that they didn't need to serve the public needed to change.

my mind was made up before we went to war, and there were epic protests (hundreds of thousands of people across the country. what did johnny say??
“i will not be swayed by public opinion”
i thought wtf? isn't that his job?

do you know nothing about tax brackets? try getting 45% of your wages taxed, or whatever the value was. youd be annoyed.
so what if not all of them worked harder. they obviously made the right decisions in life, and are getting screwed for it. if the government wasnt trying to take away from the rich, everyone would get taxed at the same rate.
the only thing that the rudd government has done against low income workers is raising alcohol taxes.

I can't complain. In short I have to give him credit for doing something, rather then hanging out of Bush's pocket all year and not really making any significant changes.

He's done alot that I'm happy with, to name it off the top of my head I'd be stumped, as I don't really pay much attention, but I do remember hearing changes and saying yes sounds good. On the other hand there's stuff I'm not entirely happy about, the apology wasn't a great idea but at least it shuts them up and is still a good step forwards. The idea of restricting the internet has got me ****ed at the moment.

I'd vote for him again.

As for all you well off people that are complaining. At least you're all set up, I'm a 24 year old, now living at home, on traineeship wages, looking at 300 thousand dollar sh*thouse homes. 3 years ago I nearly got a house but didn't have enough cash free. Unless something changes I'm here for a long time.

Tell that to all the kids that have grown up being molested, abused, with parents that didn't give a %$#^. With all the money draining out of public schooling, to prop up rich private schools, people do not grow up with the same opportunities.

You would like an underclass, living in shanties on the outside of every town, picking through the dump for food. They might even wash your feet for 5 cents, thats how deserate they will be to eat every night, let alone make it in the world.

Also if it wasn't for those who are less fortunate, who would be doing those menial and mundane tasks, that others take for granted.

Why not help others out, after all charity begins at home.
