Methinks engine mounts...for tyres whatever is legal as long as kind of know/pronounce the brand lol
I have had a couple of people suggest engine mounts, I had a look at them they look ok but truth be told I don't know what a stuffed one looks like.

I'm having the thing booked in with Pedders for their Brake, Steering and Suspension check, I don't know if they check engine mounts but I'll mention it to them anyway when I drop the car off.

I plan to keep the ute long term, so I'll get fixed whatever the report comes back with.

Expect a quote for a few grand with them checking the car....

A rubber just has to look old and they say it's stuffed....

I'd find somewhere else, rather than those ripoff mongrels

Oh and I'm not the only one on this forum that has the same opinion of them

Really? yikes.

Any suggestions for a reputable alternative?

I travel pretty much all over WA, so location doesn't really matter.

No, it definately wasn't wheelspin related.

Edit: Just to add, I have been down some pretty gnarly corrugated roads which rattle you to your core and the violent shaking this thing did was much much worse. And the banging was LOUD. It felt like a catastrophic failure of some sort which is why I'm confused. Nothing seems broken?
Centre bearing on the drive shaft. That’s my bet.
Grab the drive shaft like the groom on the wedding night and see what movement there is around the centre bearing.

Joondalup Caltex on Winton Road.
He uses the Caltex name but is an independent business. I know the former owners and he was their apprentice who has carried on the ethic they had. No bull ****. Don’t fix things that don’t need fixing. No surprises.

Is that Joondalup Auto Care? if so, I'll give them a call tomorrow.

Engine mount under load/torque raises up on the passenger side and bangs back down.
Easy way to test is load the engine up while stationary and see if engine raises on passenger side.

I’ll also put my money on the tailshaft / driveshaft centre bearing.

Have experienced similar symptoms when ours went. It can feel quite violent, and primarily present when under load. Have a good look at it, and don’t be shy giving it a good wiggle.

I know Pedders cop a bad rap sometimes, but I wouldn’t have an issue getting one of their safety inspections done. Just don’t get sucked into replacing a tonne of stuff unless you agree with what they call out as needing replacement.
