Hi all,
I'm going to finally get some new wheels this weekend, and being my first VE and V8, I need some advice from any wheel and tyre guru's out there. I have researched and read many threads on the matter, but to be honest, I'm only more confused. I'm a dummy basically.
I'm not really down with the lingo, so all the reading I have done on offsets etc has embarrassingly left my head spinning a bit. I want 20" rims and that's pretty much where my expertise on the matter ends. The advice I'm looking for is what size front and rear is best (eg. 20x8.5, 20x9, 20x10?), and what are the real pros and cons of going one over the other? For example, does a larger 20x9 or 20x10 on the rear provide better handling and stability? Also, I intend to get my car lowered so the guard sits just above the tyre, (and was advised on getting the wheels first), so will any of the options mentioned not fit my car once lowered?
And regards to tyre sizes what would be best in terms of comfort and handling when matched with the rim size you are recommending?
I hope that all makes sense (I warned you I was a dummy), and given I want to get my car lowered on new rims within the next 2 week period, starting this weekend, I hope you can all take a second to share your knowledge and help me.
In case it matters, I have a completely stock 2006 VE Calais.
Cheers.
