Which oil filter for an ecotec?

I use Ryco.. I used a Coopers filter once, and it unscrewed itself to the point where I was leaking oil.. I'm sure I tightened it as much as I usually do, but I've got 6 Ryco's sitting around..

That's what gets my money..

Ryco and GMH are pretty much the same, the GMH one is a bit cheaper then the Ryco, I use Ryco and have been for 8yrs with no trouble.

That's what gets my money..


A filter shouldn't have to be tightened too much.

I know.. I usually do it hand tight, to the point where I can undo it with a bit more than moderate force. It's always worked fine for me, apart form that one time..

Probably a bad seal or thread was stuffed.

Well I asked my mechanic and he uses "Repco" branded oil filters... are these pretty much the same as the standard ryco/valvoline?

Yes there pretty much the same as any aftermarket oil filter....
