G’day i’ve had some issues recently with my 2010 Sv6 holden commodore. Originally it was misfiring so we changed the coils and wires, it was good for a few months till recently where it started producing heavy white smoke which smelt like fuel from the exhaust, a very rough idle and low revs (200-500 it would nearly stall). Since then we replaced the fuel injectors, fuel pressure sensor, oil, oil filter and throttle body. It was running good for about 5 minutes, no smoke no rough idle, it felt amazing (i was so relieved as i need a way to work). I drove it down the street and back a few times and BAM it happened again, has anyone had this problem? attached is the codes it has shown and live data when it was running (i didn’t get a photo but there was also p0089)

Get a compression test done. Looks like you’ve got a blown head gasket.

I initially thought this too, however my car hasn’t had any over heating problems, coolant leaks and the oil is not that milky white color people talk of. I was thinking maybe it’s the PCV valve being clogged? creating the lean or rich mixture which is causing the smoke, i’m getting a new one and a hose so i’ll keep this thread updated.

I got one done when I got the coils and wires replaced originally and they said everything looked fine, would you know what else could be causing this?

That could indicate a damaged valve seal perhaps. A compression test would confirm a lack of compression on the offending cylinder.

A coolant leak won’t always leak coolant into the oil in a dramatic way either. It’s not a straight out thing that the oil will be iced coffee if a head gasket is compromised.

If the engine oil is thinner and noticeably smelling of fuel, I’d be doing a fuel pressure test. Then removing and inspecting the mechanical high pressure fuel pump. That could leak fuel directly into the engine oil if it is faulty. Not the first time that would have happened.
As a 2010 model VE would likely have direct injection and therefore a high pressure mechanical fuel pump on the rearward part of the motor.

Getting a compression test kit this arvo, i’ll keep this forum updated.
