2004 WK Statesman LS1 V8
Hello.

My WK Statesman (173,000ks on the clock) lately has been using what I think is quite a bit of fuel. A full tank seems to be only getting me about 290 to 330ks.

It is complete stock with no modifications, I don't thrash it around I just use it taking my daughter to and from school. I will also note that I only noticed this since I took it to Holden to have a service (Oil and oil filter change). I cleared the odometer while at the fuel station, took my daughter to school 4.8ks away and my car told me it had used 1.78L of fuel with a range of 260ks til empty.

What could be the issue?

cheers.

Dont trust those onbourd fuel calculators calculate it by setting the trip counter to 0 at fill up then see how many kms compared to how many litres you used at next fill up if your doing short trips its going to use a lot of fuel on average proberly around 16l to 100k

also when they did the service they might of disconnected the battery setting everything to scratch as soon as you took off it would of been using sixty litres to 100km acording to display or something like that it gradualy comes down the more you drive

When i was doing the school run with my berlina the litres per 100kms was always around 17 to 18 and mine is a v6 but get it on the highway and right down to 8 or below. check what your average speed is across the usage
@ant797 i know my car when you have it on instant fuel when you take off from fueling up it sits at 99 litres per 100kms for a while
also the onboard trip computer is very accurate on my car it hasn't been out in the nearly 7 years i've owned it i check the fuel used to what i put in every time i fuel up because i reset it every fill.

My onboard trip computer is also very accurate,
And Its very accurate for the "Remaining Fuel"
Around the suburbs I can get 14> 17 L/100km, that always depend upon the traffic and time of the day,
you ask 14, yes, that can be achieved,
But that also depends up the fuel you use,
E10, 91, 95, 98 & E85
Where if I use
E10 I can get [average] 16 L/100km
91 I can get [average] 14 > 15 L/100km
E85 is usually [average] 17 L/100km [tank usually only lasts approx. 300k/m], where I use E85 when the price is over $1.50 p/l for city driving
On the other hand, I don't drive a V8 like a grandpa,
so E85 economy is not so good in city driving, and not a efficient fuel on the open road.
Where highway/open road is usually approx. 12.5 > 13 L/100km,
with AFM working ok, using the cruise control and running 91 or 95.
Taking into account, I carry approx. 170kg in the back of the wagon everyday.

I avaraged 11 to 12l in my vy ute around town and on highway regular unleaded

Depends where your driving, stop and starts around city driving will always use more than highway use, only way to test is hook it up to a dyno tune maybe the fuel trims are out due to sensors and so on.
