Ooooh, my favourite kind of thread. I got sick of sharing the shed with all the family junk so recently I decided to build myself a new "toolbox".
I bought a kitset zincalume shed, 3030w x 1080d x 1880h, and built a floor for it with 400mm joist spacing so it's nice and solid, then mounted it on 3 100x100 H4 skids, so technically it's mobile and I can put it hard up against the boundary fence without the council being able to force me to move it.
It's out of bounds to the rest of the family, so I know my tools will always be where I've left them. Currently parked in there are my toys, which consist of...
- Hitachi: 12in sliding compound mitre saw (can cut 3 4x4s in one go, gotta love it), 190mm circular saw, planer
- Makita: angle grinder, jigsaw, router, hammer drill (okay, it's a Maktec, but it works...)
- DeWalt: 18v drill
- Bordo: 200mm hole saw
- Bahco: Socket set
- Smart: Multi-tool
- Ryobi: Reciprocating saw (hey, it cost me $1 and it's still going after 10 years despite the abuse)
- Black & Decker: Driver and bit set, heat gun, orbital sander (I kill them regularly, not worth spending heaps)
- Wayco: trolley jack, axle stands
- Also... (*closes eyes and mentally looks around*) 2.9m extendable mitre saw stand, 1200mm spirit level, another socket set, wheel chocks, handsaws, 2 tool boxes and a couple of cardboard boxes full of random hand tools and bit sets, extension leads and RCD, sandpaper, nails/screws/bolts/rivets etc, hand scrub, an emergency bottle of Coke and my steel caps.
It's all on the floor/stacked on top of each other at the moment but once I've finished boxing the vege gardens (we have about 110sq.m of them in total), built the back fence and greenhouse floor, put up a pergola and rebuilt the old shed I'm going to use whatever's left over to build some shelving to store it all more effectively. Can't wait.
