    VZ Misfiring?

It's not that difficult to fit the new coils yourself... I gave it a go with basically no mechanical know how and it was quite easy. You will need to undo the manifold and you can then chock it up with a bit of wood or something to give yourself access to the coils... Attached is a guide that...

    Cleaning out engine bay

Thought I would include some pics to show what a difference about 30 mins work can make to your engine bay. First I covered my OTR and Alternator with plastic bags to ensure they didnt get wet. Then I used my Karcher high pressure cleaner over the whole engine bay to remove any loose dirt and...

vz one tonner 2004 alloytech- engine oil in air intake

Nothing to worry about, it's the PCV feeding oil fumes from the motor back through the intake to be burnt. It's to help reduce emissions.

    vz help

I had the exact same issue mate, the misfire would only happen on about 70% or more throttle. I replaced the spark plugs but the problem ended up being the coils. I bought a new set from ebay and replaced them myself which solved the problem. I would say start with new plugs and go from there...

    vz help

Hey mate, Yep you are on the money, a misfire is usually going to be either your plugs or coil packs. How many ks has your car done. Is it a v6 or v8? Have your plugs been replaced?

    Ultimate alloytec failure...

It doesn't matter if you are a P plater or not. The best approach is to drive a stock v6 for a few years... Save money instead of spending it on the car... Purchase something enjoyable when you are off P Plates...

    Ultimate alloytec failure...

I don't understand the reason for spending bulk cash (10k?) to make a V6 faster. Here is an alternative: 1. Sell your sv6 for 11k. 2. Use the sale price + 10k in mods to buy a VY/VZ SS. Hell, you might even snag a HSV for this price. 3. Enjoy.

    LS2 Operating Oil Pressure

My Senator running Nulon 5W-30 oil is getting about 2.5 bar warm idle, 3 bar cruising. Coldd isle is about 3 bar. I've read on a couple of different threads that this appears normal.

    Is this a fair quote??

Mate to be honest you are going to get rolled at Holden by at least 25% when it comes to pricing for almost anything. I would take the motor to another workshop. Or you could pickup a second hand alloytec motor for about 2-2.5k and have that installed, or get a new crate motor.

    VZ V6 Rattle!

Just a quick update in case it helps anyone else. I've been living with this rattle for the past 3-4 months and finally decided to do something about it. Took it down to a local exhaust shop and it was a simple case of the heat shields on the drivers side touching the exhaust and making the...

    Plastic Seat Housing - Snapped!

Hi, The plastic seat housing on the RHS of my drivers seat has cracked and is now sitting loose on the floor. This happened after a large family member of mine put too much weight on the side of the seat when exiting the car. A pic is attached below. Has anyone found a way to fix theirs...

Unable to open lid to replace the oil filter

Hi Mate, I know how frustrating that can be. I believe the lid should only be done up to 25Nm however lazy mechanics may do this up with a rattle gun or similar and the lid can be very hard to crack. I was faced with the same situation and decided to at least attempt undoing it rather than...

what does the date mean on vz v6 bosch coils???

I thought this was the date the coils were made? I have a 04 VZ SV6 and when i replaced mine they were all dated xx-06-04 which is about right the for date the car would have been made.

    VZ alloytec sparkplugs

Hey, I can understand where you are coming from with regards to mechanical knowledge. Being in a similar position, I managed to replace my VZ spark plugs with no problems at all. The biggest issue is the intake manifold sits on top of some of the plugs so this needs to be lifted slightly...

VZ SV6 - Power Feels Uneven When Foot to Floor...

When i was encountering this issue one of the things I noticed was that the missfire would only occur if the car was under heavy load. eg: throttle at 80%+. Constantly Failing Water Pumps

Thanks for the replies guys, The coolant has been dumped and replaced each time the pump has been done and they've always used the red long life coolant - so I'm pretty sure that the coolant isn't the issue. Each time I've had a separate mechanic out to check the car and they've all said...
