ive mainly had pioneer gear because its been the best value for buck not to cheap not to expencive, in my vn (first car) i had a jvc deck that was ok a little bit older and it had a bad habbit of the screen cutting out if you pushed it to hard

then i upgraded to a mid range pioneer headunit was pretty good but shortly after transplanting it from my vn to my vt it started playing up. used to turn itself off after you turn the car on and then go back on a couple minutes later, mate of myne had the same head unit and the screen went in it

at the moment ive got another mid range pioneer headunit around the $600 retail mark dont ask me on model numbers cause i dono but its got the dolphin visulisation and the f1's racing, i had two of these one on our old sedan and the one thats in the stato was in my ute been an awesome headunit no trouble so far

my dads got older alpine in his hilux n for just a deck an amp and two splits dam it cranks if i had the cash id go full alpine but spent to much on my current system to scrap it

kenwood or sony sometimes the cheap ones work just as good,
like my dominator speakers they kick,
but in the end it is all up to the person who drives the car,
i'd go for looks like if it will suit the inside of the car colour of the head unit
and speakers and amp and subs all that stufff to blend in with the carpet
and door trim but that is me
