Remember that this is a prototype made in the days when EV's were just about to take off, made by a 3rd party company so there was lots of room for improvement there...
Mate Rimac stated with the same notion, that is making an upgrade kit for an exiting ICE vehicle, but he quickly realised that it was better to build a complete EV optimised for an electric driveline.. So that’s the direction he took and the rest is history.

Exactly, an EV drivetrain isn’t a ‘drop in’ alternative to an ICE. The vehicle is optimised for a particular drivetrain, or effectively built around the chosen drivetrain.

The size and weight of a battery pack in an EV is the dominant item that the rest of the car is designed around.

The Zeta platform that these VE/VF Commodores are on was apparently made for a wide range of powertrain, including EV's... Though in the VE/VF form, it needed quite a few modifications...

The VE/VF Zeta platform doesn’t look very EV friendly considering the driveshaft floor hump and rear tank floor hump.

Even Gm’s old T battery arrangement wouldn’t fit without considerable mods to the VE/VF floor pressings, let alone GMs large and flat Ultium battery (which fits nicely with GM’s BEV3 architecture).

So unless zeta had a flat floor option it’s a stretch to say it was truely EV capable… marketing mus5 have been involved here :p

This kind of EV is what the world actually needs. Not the fact it’s a Commodore but the fact that they are just replacing the ICE drivetrain with an EV equivalent.

We don’t need something that can do 0-100kph in three seconds, something with 100-150kw is perfectly sufficient for a regular passenger car.

I watched another video where they converted a Ferrari to electric. No new bolt holes or modifications needed. Improved weight distribution. Room for a boot in the back and front. 600HP motor. Two gears. Forward and reverse. Gauges modified to look factory but do electric things. Huge batteries. Good range. Added 50kg to the weight before. It will go so fricken fast. The Teslarossa.

The Monster Garage EV Drag car had removable batteries.

The Milwaukee car, formerly featured on Monster Garage—a 1962 Chevy powered by 384 Milwaukee cordless drill batteries:.

Are witches using magic stick vacs? Or are magic powered brooms carbon neutral?

Yep, the Zeta platform isn't very EV friendly in its current form but was said to suit EV's, with modifications
