I can't speak for overseas but here the police (who don't contract out this sort of work) will look for co-oberating (sp?) evidence before deciding to raid somebodies house. They won't be breaking down doors just because your neighbour claimed your a terrorist.

It happens when the Police Force is overwhelmed; just a mater of time when the Gov start to outsource/contract out some of the work. The beginning are the menial things such as, controlling traffic, clerical work, dispatching, walking around patrolling just to blow the whistle if some is out of place. A few are hurt on the line of duty and will be issue some protection; right after that a badge and so on. Before you know it, will be integrated into the system like a law enforcement branch.

We have some called the TSA; they started with menial work. Monitoring body scanners at the airports, now, is not even close from where they started.

Sometimes I wonder about the intelligence of the average Aussie.....

Kiwi mistaken for Muslim threatened with beheading - National - NZ Herald News

To be honest, I do not question their intelligence; paranoia is taking over.

exactly , when paranoia slips in , they have won . But still be vigilant .

Without invading.

My advice is; know your neighbors, participate in the community. There are some people that like to start things just for the drama.

While we don't have an companies like Academi in Australia, we do have private companies that train our military and police who have requested contracts to become active although the requests are always denied.

Just to clarify... I meant Australian owned companies. Several contractors have setup shop here in Australia although are only used for personnel security of VIPs.
