Lower profile tyres = harsher ride?

Does lower profile tyres mean a harsher ride?

Currently have on front 245/30/20
Rear 275/30/20

Im going for comfort now, so would I be better going for a higher profile tyres?
Wanted to go 40 profile.
Would flat runs be more comfortable?

A higher profile tyre will be less harsh but if you're going to go higher profile, you should be dropping your rim size to match to maintain the rolling diameter.

No is the short answer run flats are terrible for ride quality.

redline with brembos, i think the smallest rim would be 18", thats probably like a 45?

i went from a 19" wheel on my VE to 20" on my VF, and the VF is way softer.
its not all in wall height..

Please tell me more! How am I going to achieve a more comfortable ride with the tyres? What brand of tyres you got on yours?

I believe not all 18s are created equal though, i.e. only some will fit over Brembos.

Input your current size and it can calculate alternative sizes that retain the same (or very close to) rolling diameter.

Note - are you sure your fronts are 245/30/20. I would expect them to be 245/35/20.

Your actually right, there 35 profile at the rears. Why the bit of difference? Wouldn't it be better to have the same profile size?

35 rears ?

Should be 35 fronts and 30 rears given it appears you have the staggered rears (wider) with the 275 width.

The lower profile on the rear maintains the rolling diameter as close as possible given the extra width.

If you had the same width rims front & rear, you would have the same profile front & rear, i.e. mine are 245/35/20 all round coz I have 20x8" rims on all four corners.

If you are looking for 40 profile, you will need 19" rims with a 245/40/90 tyre.

18" rim will need a 245/45/18 tyre but as I mentioned above you will need to check fitment as they may not clear the Brembos.
