My 64 Mini just says fuel but it also has fuel filler on both sides
Did Morris era Mini's even have a fuel gauge? Hahahahaha.

I know the 67-68 didn't even come with an alternator and was positive ground.

Maybe I'm old school, but I'm a believer of checking where the fuel filler is in a car before driving off, rather than rely on some arrow or fuel gauge placement in the dash telling me where it is and hoping it is actually right.

It's amazing how many people turn their back once you crawl out of a gutter. These idiots were never your friend. To them you were just someone they perceived as weak & who could be used to boost their self-confidence (or lack thereof). As my late grandfather used to say - "if a person despises you, good. it's when they start pitying that you need to worry".

Please provide some context.
