The heads are not interchangable. Plus on the ecotec, the spark plugs are located in the side of the heads, with the alloytec, they are located in the top of the head. Ecotecs use Spark Plug leads and coils, Alloytecs just use coils. But mainly they wont fit different engine completely. Whats...

Unlikely to be plugs. Could be damaged leads. Most likely coils from what your describing. Get the car scanned, should log miss fires. Sorry I don't know where the coils and plugs are on the alloytec so can't comment on the inlet manifold

alloytec engine does not have cam belts, it is a set of chains, if the comp test was good I would say no sticking valves, look at your plugs, coils, vac leak, injectors, O2 sensors

It says VE on the box and the connector has 4 pins. I know they're not coils for an LS, and there's 6 in the set, so I'm assuming they're for an Alloytec/SIDI.

The **** thing with the alloytec is U have to pull the manifold off to change ur coils, U might as well change ur plugs and keep the old ones as spares. Smart thing to do really.

V6 Alloytec?? If so, you have part of the coil boot broken off. I would have thought that a proper long spark plug socket would still work? This is the sort that you "should" be using… Spark Plug Sockets | Toledo You will need to buy new coils if it is an alloytec.

just a generalization for coils leads etc, am aware of coil over plug for alloytec, just letting the op be aware that to get good gains from the alloytec you need a good amount of money, (he may not have known about the plugs so good call) more info for everybody the better

If they change the engine over (quite common with lots of Alloytec issues) ask for all the various sensors from the old motor. You own them. Get them back. Any accessories too. Keep them for spares. Coils, injectors belt tensioner.

The Alloytec doesnt have coil packs. It has 6 individual ignition coils over the spark plug. They are extremely common to go as water tends to get in them and corrode. WHere did you get them from, that sounds incredibly expensive.

i have the same problem but minor, my vz acclaim alloytec drives but there is no power from first to second gear and gets more power from then but miss fires alot so im not driving it but im gonna change sparkys and coils any other ideas?

So fuel pump didn't fix it? Coils are fairly easy it's just a pain on the alloytec you need to lift the top manifold. It sounds more serious than coils to me unless several are really badly farked. Anyhow you can get a set online about $180 or about $60 each at supercheep a-la repco times six...

That's 2 different brands, but the coils should still be the same. I bought a single coil from repco and I never had problems with it, can't remember the brand. What are the part numbers for the different plugs for vz? Ngk plugs should be ltr6ap-11 which are the same plug for the ve alloytec...

VE Alloytec V6's don't have spark plug leads. And if one of the coils wasn't plugged in properly, the car should still run, but it would run rough. They have coils on each spark plug (instead of leads, then to a coil pack). He was trying to get the harmonic balancer off to fit a smaller one...
