    VU ute error code P1361

Hi all, It took a while to sort out my issue with my P1361 DTC but, i have great news. I found a mechanic with the right smarts to get to the issue. As it turned out a mechanic that had done my water pump previously, obviously took a short cut & didn't drain the cooling system correctly. How...

    VU ute error code P1361

Hi Lex, That is exactly my next area to look at. I will be looking at the cam angle sensor first as this easy to get to & that is where the ECU DTC fault code is telling me to look. As for the crank angle sensor, this as you would know is a little harder to access due to harmonic balancer...

    VU ute error code P1361

Hi lex, Appreciate your reply. I drove the car again today & after about 20klms engine light lit up once again. I hooked up the scan tool & this time i got DTC P1361 as per usual although, it threw an additional code being P0341 cam angle sensor intermittent. I believe i am getting closer to...

    VU ute error code P1361

Hi VXGTS, Just reporting back in regard to my P1361 DTC fault code. I have been racking my brain on what the issue could be & have not been able to nail it just yet although, i have checked the ECU wiring & plugs which all seem OK. I am thinking if it were an ECU issue i would be getting more...

    VU ute error code P1361

Forgot to add that the error code in Max Ellery engine manual for error code P1361 is Ignition bypass circuit. It says that this indicates intermittent fault with PCM.

    VU ute error code P1361

Hi all, I have tried to look up posts for this error code but, i am not getting any definite answers. The story is, i had engine check light come on the other day & after hooking up my Vident scan tool it gave error code P 1361. Car still ran fine with the engine light on getting home. When i...

    DFI Module

Not completely dead, just misfires & carries on. I have my own tech tool to remove any code errors which has always allowed me to get the old girl home. This car has never left me stranded. I have owned it since new & it is hard for me to let it go due to its reliability. I also have got to know...

    DFI Module

Hi all, I am having DFI module issues with a VU 2002 ute (Basically a VX). I have killed my second DFI in 8 weeks. Very expensive at $380 per unit. When i removed the DFI module this time i noticed it was very hot. The heat seemed to be excessive in my opinion. I believe something in the...

    DTC 16 & 17

Yeah, i liked Grimes idea of not draining coolant completely as that seemed such a waste & made the job that much harder. Made sense to drain just below thermostat level, install new sensor , re-fill & purge. (Thanks Grimes!) Thanks to you also BlackVXGTS as i appreciate your input also. Both...

    DTC 16 & 17

Cheers mate, appreciate the info. I was going to change the sensor without draining the coolant. I was going to change on a cold engine, remove sensor & put my thumb over the hole to stop coolant leaking & the quickly install new sensor & then purge any air via the thermostat housing. I take it...

    DTC 16 & 17

Thanks for your reply & input. I was already thinking of replacing the sensor as like you have said this is the cheaper option & more likely to be the problem. It has never been replaced & has probably seen better days. What you say about preceding & following codes makes sense also. Thanks again.

    DTC 16 & 17

Hi all, i have a DTC list of 16 ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) (SIGNAL VOLTAGE UNSTABLE) & 17 PCM ERROR - ECT COOLANT CIRCUIT. Can anyone advise if they have experienced these DTC's & what the problem was. Would either be faulty temp sensor or faulty PCM/ECU. Any info would be appreciated.

    PCM location

Hey all, just trying to locate the PCM (Powertrain control module) on my VU ute 2002 V6. I cant find location in repair manual. Any ideas would be appreciated. I am not looking for the BCM or ECU as i know where these are. Update: Just wanted to advise that i have researched & found that the...

    VX Commodore stall while driving

I am hearing you guys & i appreciate your responses & interest in my problem. There are many sensors on these vehicles which can make it hard to diagnose a problem when the computer is not throwing any codes. As far as i know a faulty CAS should throw an error code (check engine light would come...

    VX Commodore stall while driving

Appreciate your reply. I understand the throttle body is cable driven therefore, what may happen if you were just coasting along & let your foot of the accelerator (no foot on the pedal) wouldn't this be classed as no tension on the accelerator cable ?

    VX Commodore stall while driving

I am not exactly sure that to be correct from what i have read & maybe so for a correctly working IAC valve. Although, if the IAC valve is faulty & not working as it should, it may cause the butterfly on the throttle body to close during normal operation causing the engine to stall. This may...

    VX Commodore stall while driving

Just wanted to provide an update on my stalling issue. After a little research I found it to be a failing IAC (Idle air control) valve on the throttle body. Replaced with a GOSS brand IAC from Repco.

    GOSS brand

Hey, can anyone offer any info on the GOSS brand in regard to TPS, IAC sensors etc ? I believe they are reputable but, just wanted some feed back on quality. Cheers.

    Question

The wheel stud pattern would be the same although, as for guard room etc; I would suggest physically trying them first. You would only have to check one rear & one front to see if they fit. Be sure to turn the wheel for the front when it is on the ground to ensure guard clearance is sufficient...

    VX Commodore stall while driving

Plugs, leads, air filter, oil filter, diff oil, engine oil & fuel filter have been replaced many times over it's 280,000klm life aswell as alternator, radiator etc. I agree that items from EBAY can be suspect as you really don't know what you are getting. I bought the Delphi CAS through Repco.

    VX Commodore stall while driving

Lout, that is a very good question. As you would be aware getting genuine GMH parts for this age of Holden vehicle is now getting harder although, i have an assortment of genuine GM parts which i have purchased over time from Lion's den Holden & Australian Online Car Parts ready for use when...

    VX Commodore stall while driving

Hi, thanks for your reply although, i have replaced the CAS when i replaced the harmonic balancer about 12 months ago. Going to try fuel filter & see how it goes. Can't hurt for only $22 & as i have not replaced for some time. Any other ideas ?

    check drive train warning

My drive train (engine) warning light kept coming on intermittently on my 2002 VU Commodore ute. Turn the car off & back on & it would go out. Kept coming on every now & then. Had auto elec check for codes. No codes were coming up as ECU must of been clearing any codes when the engine light...

    vx airbag

Have you tried taking to auto electrician to read the code & re-set ? They don't usually charge for check & re-set. I had a girlfriend who had airbag light come on & i took it to auto elec who checked & re-set the code. The reading was non active airbag code. Computer must of had a moment or...

    BCM & PCM Replacement

I had the same issue in my VU ute. I went for the most used part first which was the seat belt pre-tensioner. As it turned out i was correct. Common high KM problems?

Thanks for the reply. Good to hear initial tests have been positive. It has been a pleasure to share my own experience & I hope it is a resolution to your own issues, aswell as everyone else on this forum who may experience the same problem. Great work & thanks for listening.
