Didn't go to extremes testing, Just replaced considering how cheap it was and all good. Not saying it's the fix for you but worked for me

I had the same problem on my ssv. Turned out it was the microswitch on the bonnet latch. Replaced it with a genuine at about $90 and sorted my problem out. Hope this helps.

Yes, Keep the shields. It protects the sparkplug boot from excessive heat from the exhaust manifold.

I have a VE ssv and I had service vehicle soon message that would not go away. Turned out to be a faulty oil pressure switch. Changed switch and message went by by. Not saying that's your problem but....

Btw, it could be an Abs module, I have never come across it on a commodore but did have to go to Tassie to change one on my mother in-laws Mazda 3. Common problem apparently for them. Not s hard job, Sourcing one was. Got it from the UK in three days and worked treat. Mazda wanted 2,200 to fix...

When I encountered that problem it was the passenger side rear abs sensor. There are other things that can cause that to come up. Replacement of sensor fixed it for me, but I have a ssv sportwagon.

Just don't come to a full stop when bedding brakes, nor fast and furious braking. Gentle braking at all acceptable speeds I have found does the trick. Unless of course you are performing a roadworthy or pink slip brake test.

If it's a service vehicle soon message on cluster it can't be reset. Different to a service reminder. Mine was on a ssv wagon and it amounted to an oil pressure sensor, changed that and it went away. Hope this might help

Have you degreased engine bay? Sometimes degreaser dries up things. Any belt noise I have had I put dry lube on and sorted. DO NOT USE WD40. Also any bearing play in any pulleys can make the belt not track. Check for belt wear on sides of belt. May be a tensioner? Just sharing my belt...

I have a 2011 ssv wagon and just recently had a SVS message on dash, Found info here on probable causes, Not sure of an oil level sensor but changed the oil pressure sensor located passenger side rear of engine and all sorted. 27mm deep hex socket and some patience. Love this site

Markovr is right. I had the same issue, was the latch. All fixed now and no problems
