wow what can I say but the fricken dreaded misfire of the vn .. I have replaced coilpack/dfi , spark plugs , leads , cleaned throttle body , new fuel filter and nulon injector cleaner etc ... it helped alot replacing all those items ... coil pack died couple months later ... was 2nd hand...

mate my sterring rack is original and when it starts to leak I run bottle nulon stop leak for power steering ..also check where the hoses connect to as they can become loose and the hose clamps need tightening up. works wonders ... just dont add the whole bottle ... just keep adding it...

Timing chain rattle can be caused by a stuffed harmonic balancer .... and are you 100% sure its the timing chain or maybe the fan belt tensioner arm spring is worn and causing vibration/rattle at low revs it does on my car when engines warmed up and heat gets to the worn spring , it wont do it...

yeah sounds like the coolant temp sensor to the ECU theres 2 coolant temp sensors ..the other goes to the cluster ... one goes to ECU which kicks the fan on when engine is around 1/2 to 3/4 hot ....

I have found if you use carbie cleaner it does remove lube from the IAC motor .. but using wd40 and an long plastic attachment you can spray wd40 in there and I alsy spray wd 40 in and around butteryfly whilst opneing and closing it ... when I would accelerate the thing would stick and revs...

you could also have a air leak ... the throttle body gaskets should have something applied to it when putting back on if resusing old gasket... also the idle control sensor may need adjusting .. make sure all vacum hoses are on correct inlet ...

I would try changing fuel filter , air filter , give inside the throttle body a good spray of carbie cleaner and putting bottle of nulon total system fuel cleaner in tank... and fill up with 1/2 a tank of premium fuel then go for a good drive on freeway or similar ... if that does not help ...

bolts need tightening , could be anything ... so there was more power before all the work done ? could be injectors are stuffed or o rings leaking ,kickdown cable not set correctly , could be dodgy mechanic ... take it back to where it was fixed..
