Hey mate, try a high flow thermostat if ur gonna replace it anyways. Its only like 20bucks from supercheap or repco and it cools ur system quicker. Also maybe try wiring in a switch to turn ur engine fan on and off manually...wont fix the problem but helps keep it cool if ur stuck in traffic on...

Hey all, Ive had to replace my TPS 3 times in the 3.5 years since i've had my 94 vr v6. I've never noticed the above mentioned adaptor unless its the white piece of plastic that sticks out of the TPS? Does anyone know roughly how long a TPS should last? Cheers Jack

Hey mate yea its a small diff rubber that sits on the body pan above the front of the diff. Also my bump stops were shot so I replaced them too and it fixed it up, however just a month or so later I was under there and they completely shot again so I think i'm up for some heavy duty ones. Jack

Thanks for that moff_man, it pretty much backs up what i was thinking-that it was the sensor/sender playing up. I will change them over at some stage when i can find time. Luckily for me i wired in a switch to the computer to turn my fan on and off whenever i like so thats got me out of trouble...

Nah mate threw a new one in the same time I did the stat this morning, just taken it for a test n the fan isnt kicking in til its 2 white notches away from red!!! I will try my coolant temp sender n sensor n go from there.

Ok so I had a look underneath this morning. The linkage seems fine, its selecting the correct gear and holding it as well so its not jumping out and doesnt seem sloppy. The only problem I found is that there is a fair bit of sideways movement in it. Probably only a centimetre or so to either...
