[SA] My VN for sale **SOLD**

No, it will not need to go over the pits in South Australia. It is simply a matter of paying the rego and that's it. I'm not sure of the other states though, so if it bought by an interstate buyer, their local authorities may require it to go over the pits. I bought this car from Sydney...

Trying to track down a ******** Commodore driver in Adelaide

I should also admit that I drive a Commodore (I have a VN SS as one of my many 4 wheeled toys) and can be a dick-head at times too, but if I damaged someone's property I'd at least have the balls to stick around and sort it out. Interestingly, the guy whose fence was trashed actually has a...

Trying to track down a ******** Commodore driver in Adelaide

Hi all, I'm trying to track down a ******** Commodore driver in Adelaide who lost control and plowed through a fence in the Playford Waters Estate in Smithfield SA last night. It was a white Commodore (possibly a VP) with red pinstriping. It would be sporting some front end damage...

    My $1500 vn ss

Love the VN SS's. How did you verify that the car was a genuine SS? There's plenty of mockups out there. What does the model code on the ID plate say, and the engine code, suspension code, paint code etc. They will all help you determine if it's original. Good luck on the project too...

    quick question bout conversions

Good advice. Conversions are rarely as simple as they sound and for that money you can buy a damn nice car. There's always nice VN-VP SS's on ebay. $5000 will get you a very nice one. I bought my VN SS on ebay a few weeks back and it only owes me $3100 plus about $1200 for rego and interstate...

How to organise a courier for private one-time use?

Just grab the yellow pages and call a few. A lot of the bigger companies want you to have an account with them which is just not practical. The yellow pages should have a heap of smaller private couriers who will do the job for you.

    Vn horn problem

I just had this same problem. I replaced an aftermarket wheel with an original one and then the horn and blinkers wouldn't work. I quickly figured out it was because the centre shaft of the steering wheel wasn't providing an earth path. It was the same thing. The brown plastic thing is the upper...

    Need Opinions

Leave it standard. Fads come and go but in the end everyone seems to value standard unmolested cars the most. If you really really want to have a coloured interior, pick up a second set and keep the originals tucked away for the future. Interior plastic is cheap and easy to come by (now) so grab...

weird clicking sound and other issues

I'd tackle the issues one at a time. With issue 4 I'm assuming you have already checked that the fuse is ok :-) Then 'Id check that there is power getting to the terminals of the demister on the rear screen. If there is then I'd check the globe in the dash. If there's not then I'd check the...

    Hyclones

I saw something on tv or in the paper that the ACCC is taking legal action on the manufacturers of this product because their claims are unproven or have proven to be false etc. I'm not 100% sure it was that particular brand but it was definitely the same concept.

stereo works WITHOUT the fuse in

If the stereo is wired correctly it will get it's main power from the fusebox via a fuse. Most people just use the original stereo power wire to power any replacments stereo's meaning the original stereo fuse is still in use but not always. But, even if they have put in a new wire (fused...

    Seized Heater Flapper Valve

The problem is exactly as I stated. There is a flapper valve that controls the amount of hot air entering the cabin. This valve is seized solid. This valve is controlled by the temperature knob. As you turn the knob to either hotter or colder it moves an actuating rod which via a little...

[SA] WTB sub n amp under 200

lol, yeah they're pretty crappy. All six of those subs were in a chipboard box in the boot of a VN SS that I bought. I found it hard to believe that anyone though that was a good idea. I didn't even bother turning the stereo on, I just pulled it all straight out and bought some new gear. No...

Warning engine lights on between 40 and 60 km/h

Disconnect the wires from both ends and use the Ohms setting. This may be shown as a funny little horseshoe symbol on the meter (It's the greek letter Omega). You are testing whether or not there is continuity from one end of the wire to the other. You select the ohms scale and attach one test...

[SA] WTB sub n amp under 200

I've got a stack of cheap subs for sale. Cheap price and cheap quality. I've got a couple of amps too. All this crap was in a huge box in the boot of a VN SS I just bought. Ripping all of it out was one of the first things I did. Rookwood 12 inch 600 watt sub. Power Concept by Tornado 12...

What seats will fit in my VN?

I've got a nice set of Statemans seats. I think they are out of a 92ish Statesman. They are dark grey velour and look really nice in the car. I liked them but pulled the out to fit genuine SS seats. There is one seam coming apart on the drivers seat but it's only the seam and it can be easily...

    Steering column bearing

Well I sorted it out. It was the upper steering column bearing mount. That's the plastic part that the blinker switch slides into. It has a couple of brass contacts that are supposed to simultaneously touch the steering shaft and the outer part of the surround creating an earth path to the...

    Steering column bearing

Sounds easy. :-) I honestly haven't had a good look at removing the column. I only figured out what the issue was this evening. I've got most of that stuff removed already anyway. Just the 3 bolts holding the column in place and the clamp at the steering rack left to do. I guess there's no...

    Steering column bearing

Hi all, Discovered another issue with a VN SS that I recently bought. Defence force choices

I did 9 years in the RAAF as an Avionics Technician on the F/A-18 Hornets. It was an awesome job. I'm still an avionics technican on the Hornets but as a civilian now. I would strongly recommend the RAAF to anyone looking to join the Defence Force. From personal experience I would say it is the...
