Means alot, cheers!!

I'm looking forward to see what you do regarding track suspension etch aswell so keep us posted.

I'm guessing he will go whiteline adjustable swaybar with Coil overs and adjustable Z bar with polyurethane bushes in the front and not sure in the rear haha. GUESSING that is.

Great looking unit - that was the best colour as well.
thanks mate, yeah love Maranello red, I was going to paint my previous VH that colour, but was going to be a huge job changing from torquay sand (cream), so eventually I sold it and bought my dream SS :)

you know I love it....sounds great
cheers Rickster - yeah I love the sound. The Holden V8 really does have one of the best exhaust notes, even one of the Ford guys on the day made a similar comment.

Means alot, cheers!!

Hazza VN is fairly much on the money, except I've fairly much done it already.

Koni Sport (yellow) adjustable shocks front & rear
Lovell springs
urethane bushes front & rear
strut brace
Whiteline sway bars F&R (non-adjustable). But planning on swapping for adjustables soon
K-Mac adjustable strut tops
Standard Z-bar at this point, but taking to a suspension specialist soon who sets up a lot of track cars - see if he can dial in some decent castor using the k-macs, if he can't get enough, then I'll upgrade the z-bars to adjustable units.
At this stage I'm not convinced the cost of coil over shocks are warranted on a primarily street driven car that goes out for the occasional track day. Also been toying with the idea of an adjustable roll centre watts link rear, but all costs big $$ - Will see how serious I get ;)

Yeah I know what you mean its all bloody expensive when just looking for parts i was seeing all these upgrade kits online, its 2k for a decent set of coilovers. I don't see the use for them on a street car other than having big wheels on it they will help so they don't hit on the strut itself. but its a bit of a wank factor for a street car more than anything i reckon.

But if you have the money and might go onto a track occasionally i guess its a good thing rather than pulling it apart a second time when you run over a curb at the track and bend the strut haha!

Driving it on a track like you seem to do is a different thing though good thing you didn't put nolathane bushes in it like another bloke i no did for a commodore he was taking to track days, the bushes were rooted after 6 months, he understood why i told him to get polyurethane then.

there are some advantages of coil overs I could use on the track like easy ride height adjustment and a much wider range of race orientated shocks available with separate rebound &compression settings, remote oil reservoir. If it was a dedicated track car, it would be a no-brainer. But for a street car that occasionally hits the track, I can't justify the cost of a good set (as you said a good set is worth $2K+). The Koni's have rebound adjustment which is the most important of the 2 settings, but yeah would be nice to have both compression & rebound adjustment

yeh, the urethane bushes have been good so far. I go through sway bar link pin bushes fairly regularly, but the sway bar setup on Commodores was never the greatest idea. Although I prefer the earlier VB-VL setup over the VN onward setup where the link pin mounts to the control arm rather than the strut. Saves the bushes twisting with the steering

Nothing beats a V8 :p I hate turbo imported things drive me insane work with two clowns with them. they think there the bees knees and think my Vb is **** love hate relationship haha. Thinking I'll buy a V8 on gas as a daily when i do get my license back if they will allow me to drive one that is.

Think about it though guys the setup you are running now was alot better than what they had in early 80s suspension, just need a rollcage and some slicks you will be set haha.

agreed guys, nothing beats a V8, especially a Holden V8 :)
and I love the old VH. It's always going to be a challenge to get a 30 year old live axle rear family car that was never designed with high speed cornering in mind to handle well, but that's half the fun of it!

Rollcage would be good on the track, but not so great for normal street duties.....likewise, I'd love to run heaps of negative camber on the track - so yeah lots of compromises when you are trying to get the best from both worlds. But yeah, I'm rather proud when I can keep up with or even lap quicker than some of the later model Commodores. They do alright for their age, especially when you fit a decent set of brakes lol!
