Welcome to Just Commodores, a site specifically designed for all people who share the same passion as yourself.
Would think that the engine would be labouring like hell in 6th gear doing 60kmh, even just the slightest rise in the road and you’d be down shiftingPosted this in wrong thread last night.
Ok, took it for a blast tonight and without traffic, I had a great chance to really check out the maths.
60km
1.0k for 6th
1.2k for 5th
1.75k for 4th
2.5k for 3rd
I noticed that it goes into 0l per km if I'm doing and release the accelerator
>75kmph in 6th
>50kmph in 5th
>35kmph in 4th
When in 6th at 60kmph on flat, it was doing about 4-8l per 100
5th at 60km 8-10l per 100
Definitely seemed much cheaper to drive it in 6th even at 60kmph but in saying that, almost always better when I need to slow down, change into 5th so it goes into free fuel mode and then change to 4th if I need to slow down more and back and accelerate back to 60kmph if 6th is needed. 2.5k RPM in 3rd is enough to get it into 6th. What was interesting is idling in 6th at 60kmph on flat is almost enough to maintain speed sometimes around 4l per 100km.
Also found a XR6 turbo that I wrecked twice and then I got sorted hard by a Super charged AMG that sounded massive of some sort. I've really got to work on my changes. 2nd seems the traction control kicked in and I'm not sure what is going on.
