Hey guys,

I’ve been having problems with my ABS for a few weeks now, installed an engine back exhaust, took the header off on the abs side while I was installing a new dipstake and replaced and have since had vehicle stability fault every time I drive, I am unsure how I could have caused this. I vaguely remember bumping the module when I was moving the header around but wasn’t very hard.

At the exact same time my steering wheel alignment went off and it was tipped to the left, have done a steering alignment but that hasn’t seemed to fix the problem.

I have inspected the abs module and abs fuses and it all looks good, I am unsure where to diagnose next from here, code readers haven’t been able to pick anything up, any tips would be great on ideas of what it could be or where to start diagnosing.

Thank you!

Make sure the battery is good. Not assume. Make sure. Have it load tested.

The charge circuit, make sure it’s working properly.

Test the battery for faults. Make sure there’s no buggered cells.
Why? Because in low voltage conditions, the ecm isolates power hungry circuits. When that happens, codes are generated. A bit of ill communication happens.

Next, with the battery negative removed and isolated away from the terminal, check the engine harness connector. It is down next to the manifold. Has a lever that lifts and releases the plug. It is also next to the steering shaft uni joint.

Check the harness around the plug for evidence of damage.

^^^ I'm tending to suspect damage to, or disconnection of, a rear ABS sensor harness whilst removing and installing the new exhaust system.

Just to clarify.
You did a wheel alignment afterwards?
No calibration of the steering position sensor?
Steering position sensor recalibrated and fault resolved.
