To answer your question, YES stress leads to a lack of attention, lower concentration rates, inability to concentrate.. It's just because whatever is causing the stress consumes your mind. It really affects every facet of your life. School is definately something that suffers because it requires a lot of your attention and concentration
As for not being able to communicate with friends/family as you otherwise would, I would say stress definatly plays a big part in that. When they talk to you, your kind of preoccupied so it takes you away from the convo.
You asked what can be done? Well really when it comes to stress what needs to be done is the stress needs to be taken away or delt with in some way (talking to someone about it / slowly taking yourself away from the stressor). If you have a friend who you feel comfortable talking to about whats going on, call them up or meet up with them and just let everything out. The with stress is it does creep into every part of your life and you do have to deal with it.
Being in year 12 as well as renovating as well as who knows how many other things going on in your life at the moment, its absolutely normal to feel stressed out, you just have to try your best to stay ontop of it.
I hope this helps?? If not shoot me a PM and I'll go into more detail and stuff
Umm.. well we havent really looked into food additives and things very in depth, we just kind of brushed over it... But yeah some definately do have an affect on people and can lead to stress as well as a number of other 'symptoms' but another thing to remember is that 'food additives' or caffine, or whatever else, is not necessarily THE cause... They may just be contributing factors to it... So if someone is sensitive to some kind of food additive and theyre already under an amount of stress or something like that, it'll definately have an effect on them...
As for some believing that its all psychological and what not, It definatly could be... but then again I'm not a doctor so I wouldnt be able to say either way... The thing with it being psychological is that if you think that there is something wrong with you (just say you REALLY think you have some kind of illness), you just thinking that can lead you to suffer from the symptoms of that illness. In alot of study's a lot of people who are given placebo's (usually a sugar pill or something - not medication) generally feel better... Obviously if you are sick then it wouldnt work, but THINKING that youve taken a medication to help, makes you THINK that you're better, and then consequently you FEEL better...
Sorry if im not making sence
