oh yes, their will be stress lol.
can these stress factors and the like cause inattention to things? my school marks are looking crook at the moment, and i find i'm not concentrating in class, or on homework when i come home, which is bad cos im in year 12. i find that i dont listen completely to what my parents/friends/rellies are saying.
what can be done about that, if you know? if not thats cool.
also i'm losing who i consider to be a best mate, almost permanently. i don't know what to do about i, cos i'l have almost no chance to see him, maybe like twice a year, and i don't think he's got phone coverage where he's goin, so i think thats affecting me a fair bit too.

i almost lost it yesterday. we are renovating, and mum is the WORST person to do that with. my god, mum and dad stressed me out

To answer your question, YES stress leads to a lack of attention, lower concentration rates, inability to concentrate.. It's just because whatever is causing the stress consumes your mind. It really affects every facet of your life. School is definately something that suffers because it requires a lot of your attention and concentration

As for not being able to communicate with friends/family as you otherwise would, I would say stress definatly plays a big part in that. When they talk to you, your kind of preoccupied so it takes you away from the convo.

You asked what can be done? Well really when it comes to stress what needs to be done is the stress needs to be taken away or delt with in some way (talking to someone about it / slowly taking yourself away from the stressor). If you have a friend who you feel comfortable talking to about whats going on, call them up or meet up with them and just let everything out. The with stress is it does creep into every part of your life and you do have to deal with it.

Being in year 12 as well as renovating as well as who knows how many other things going on in your life at the moment, its absolutely normal to feel stressed out, you just have to try your best to stay ontop of it.

I hope this helps?? If not shoot me a PM and I'll go into more detail and stuff

ahh cool....i'll shoot the first question at you :)
now i remember years ago, probably about 8 years ago,i asked my pyscologist,if food additives/preservatives, were the main factors in this condition,as lots of people are now being diagnosed with panic/anxiety,she said, she couldn't answer that question straight up,but scientist were actually looking into this side of things and the high rate of panic/anxiety,so my question is.....has it been looked into, are they teaching it as a possibile cause to the condition?,as explained in my previous posts,i noticed you said you didn't read all postings ;) i believe mine were started by a copperhead snake bite, just a dribble of venom entered bloodstream(according to a couple of doctors and NPWS snake expert)said this could be highly likely, attacking the nervous system, others totally dis-agree saying it's the way i think and it's psycological,to a degree in my case it is......the way i think, but when it first happened,i was a happy go lucky type of bloke, could do or go anywhere, then one afternoon,BANG straight out of the blue, and from there on it has stuck with me,after following all medical advice, intensity has decreased, but i still get them regularly, controlled by breathing/relaxation exercises.

Umm.. well we havent really looked into food additives and things very in depth, we just kind of brushed over it... But yeah some definately do have an affect on people and can lead to stress as well as a number of other 'symptoms' but another thing to remember is that 'food additives' or caffine, or whatever else, is not necessarily THE cause... They may just be contributing factors to it... So if someone is sensitive to some kind of food additive and theyre already under an amount of stress or something like that, it'll definately have an effect on them...

As for some believing that its all psychological and what not, It definatly could be... but then again I'm not a doctor so I wouldnt be able to say either way... The thing with it being psychological is that if you think that there is something wrong with you (just say you REALLY think you have some kind of illness), you just thinking that can lead you to suffer from the symptoms of that illness. In alot of study's a lot of people who are given placebo's (usually a sugar pill or something - not medication) generally feel better... Obviously if you are sick then it wouldnt work, but THINKING that youve taken a medication to help, makes you THINK that you're better, and then consequently you FEEL better...

Sorry if im not making sence :p I've had such a long day at uni...

If you want any further info or anything like that shoot me a PM and I'll get back to you soon as possible with some more in depth stuff

Memory is another thing which is affected by stress... It's hard to store and retrieve memories, more so those that require concentration like school work etc.

thank god, the end of the week. so how was evry1's week?
lol i think i'm failing specialist maths ... latest test result 22/42... not good, but just gotta try harder i think (sigh)
btw matty, how'd ya driving lesson go?

hey hows it going,iv'e had ups and downs, got it under control though, had a normal GP visit today, for something else :).
22/42..thats not bad is it ? i mean it's a pass isn't? i don't know what the pass marks are now,it's been 25 years since i've been to school, and things have changed...if you feel the need to study harder, don't push it to hard, relax with it,don't panic, if you can't figure anything out,ask a fellow classmate that you get on well with, or ask your teacher, make him/her earn their salary :)

nope...makes perfect sense...i had this argument with our public emergency department,i have suffered severe chest pain for the last 6-7 years, have had 2 angiograms done,to which my arteries are in pristine condition, even though i have cholestrol of 17,now the DEM doctor tried to tell me it was all anxiety related,LOL...i said now look here i have suffered anxiety for the last 17 years,i think i can tell the difference between the 2,he still adamatlly insisted that it was panic,i said OK,then why did my cardioligist give me GTN spray(you know the spray under the tongue) and after a couple of squirts the pain eases,i made mention of this placebo you are talking about, and he was stuck for words, because they did an exact same study with heart patients and panic/anxiety sufferers.even though i haven't got heart disease yet,i have been informed, by my cardiologist, that i will before i'm 50, if i don't give up the smokes(usual story from doctors :) )
the cardiologist explained to me what was happening,in some people their hearts arteries and blood vessels go into spasms for no apparent reason,in turn giving off heart attack symptoms, and now i have been told i am suffering high blood pressure and have been prescribed medication,it's also a channel blocker for the heart, opens up the arteries and vessels to allow more oxygen to get to the heart, since finding out about having high blood pressure, may well of triggered off more than normal panic attacks,as you so rightly explained about people, thinking they are sick when they are actually not, hope this all made sense :)

i can't comment on cancer,as i am one of the lucky ones,so i don't know what you are going thru on that side of things, however i have had family and friends that have had cancer, some beat it,some didn't.something far more important to your health is getting yourself checked out as requested would be a good idea, panic is only mild to what you have been thru, although i understand where you are coming from, this may sound weird and silly, but while i'm waiting for my doctor,if i can't get the relaxtion needed to calm down.....LOL i think to myself, well if i pass out,at least i'm in the right spot, the doctor is there :)
and a very wise ol ambulance driver told me about quitting smoking,he understood how hard it was to give up,but he implanted something that always sticks in the back of my mind, don't do it for yourself if you think you can't....do it for your kids,i'm still working on giving up the smokes...hope this helps you out :) not much reassurance am i....

Juss remember that its hard to get up the courage to go to the doctor but its even harder not being there for the bub and the missus.....

My dad was diagnosed with Hep C when I was 6, (he got it from a dirty blood transfusion when he was 18, back then they couldnt test 4 hepatitis) With hep C it disables ur immune/toxic removal systems (mainly liver) and you get other viruses. He now has Fibromialga, Emphacima, Chronic Fatigue, and another 5 or six with names I cant remember... I went with my dad to the doc when he was diagnosed with Emphacima and asked him after he found out why he was so calm about it, he replied "I have more important things to worry about, besides which I have a purpose here and that keeps me going" my dad later explained to me that his kids are his only concern in life and that he has to hang around to look after myself and my sister. My dad was given 5 yrs to live after being diagnosed with Hep C (as his liver was beyond repairing itself and he was too badly infected with hep C for a replacement liver) that was 15 yrs ago...... Im sory bout raving on but my point is you now have something worth fighting for that needs you, and no matter how bad things may seem you can always look at what a wonderful thing your wife/gf have created.

sorry to hear about your father .....i have also been diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome, and empysema(early stages, reversable if i give up smoking within 12 months) that it self isn't nice either, especially combined with panic/anxiety disorder.
i agree with you totally on what you just said,i don't know if you saw my post a couple up,but what the ambo said to me stuck in the back of my mind.
