Think i prefer an auto (a strong one - not my old trimatic) for the sheer lazy factor. After a hard days work with the roads i travel there is lots of annoying shifting and i think it gives me the opportunity to get more annoyed at other drivers rather than just bite the bullet and drive.
Manual is more fun though and i find it more worthwhile in the smaller cars in terms of squeezing that tiny bit more power and control out of them.

I think people who vote manual have never truly driven a good auto car. Give me my auto any day of the work, bit of work on the shift points, higher line pressure and say buh bye manuals.

in the past 35 years...all MY cars have been manuals
and all but one co car ( a hand me down piece of s*H*i*T*E F#*D)
have been manuals ( my current is an SS ..6 speed manual)

If God wanted us to drive autos...we would have been born with one leg :p

manual unless you like to go fast in just a straight line and not around corners. but hey if some of us like to drive autos then thats fine too.

In a v6 manual is one of the best mods to do. especially with the crappy old auto's

but if i could get a fully manualised auto for the price of a manual conversion i would have done that surely.

it depends what the car is for.

for a daily/work car, auto for sure, especially if you get caught in traffic.

for a weekend/fun car, couldn't go past a manual or tiptronic

The Auto's make ground on the Manuals....

A busted up back seen the end of the manual for me. Thats when the auto went into the wagon (was a great 5 speed that really hammered for the first half of it's life)

Now the V8 auto (tricked up a little) delivers great driving/cruising.
