Some wreckers do sell good s/h motors at reasonable prices, pays to shop around,220kms on the clock. The mechanic thought the motor looked to be in good shape. Car had been serviced regularly.
I don't know what the previous owner meant about bad fuelthey could have put diesel in it for all I know.
and they are required to provide a warranty for the same, usually a 90day warranty,
So if you do purchase one, get it it installed ASAP.
Depending on the motor that is in it,
Some engines are cheaper than others,
As I know the LFX engines have a higher price tag than LEO's, LLT's etc.
That said, the new items you have paid for could be used on a replacement motor, and possibly will last a bit longer.
