alrite..... just curious to know what id be paying for a really really high quality 12" sub!
i spose it'd be a competion sub! it can be around 1000Wrms. thats what i got left on my amp..
i know i should just get 2 but i have no room in my boot. dont ask questions =) give me answa's!

where can i buy extremly high quality subs?
anything sold in australia this big or only america.. etc!

any1 got some pictures or a link etc of what i can look at.
ebay wasnt that helpful! i read one that was 600Wrms and it had in its specifications that its made specially for "small enclosures".
thats a bonus!!!!

Are you after an SPL(loudness) competition sub or a sound quality orientated sub?

There are heaps of brands in Australia that do SPL or SQ and some that are pretty good at both... DD, Image Dynamics, RE Audio, JL Audio, Adire Audio, Boston Acoustics, Diamond Audio and others but I can't think at the moment.

It depends what he wants it for... You can't recommend the Pioneer 5000SPL if he wants something that has great sound quality as that sub is primarily a SPL sub and IMO the same goes for DD.

SPL? IMO? DD? deadshit?:|
i have no idea about any of it!

i have a kenwood 1800Wmax and i think it was around 1000Wrms i cant even remember the spec's exactly

its in a vl so there is a large amount of boot rattle as it is.
i also have a fixed box which is what im considering to be extremly small.

so yeh.....

what ever you boys would think is best!!

i would prob go for the extremly clear sub as the rest of the system is some 6x9 and just 6 inch up front.. no splits nothing at the moment!

i would prefer one that is made with the small enclosure thing, it would help abit

any thoughts boys?? i looked on ebay and im not really to sure exactly...
yous would much better idea on what would be best.

also, i live in the farkin stix! murry river! an hour from shepperton an hour from albury-wodonga. and all those places have is auto bahn etc.... nothing that specialises!

hope to hear from u boys soon =)

The second Pioneer subwoofer, this one, sounds great and goes very hard. They retail around the $700-$900 mark, depending where you grab it from. Pioneer also make a mini subwoofer designed for ultra small box sizes, so if room is an issue try this sucker out

Alpine make some great entry level subwoofers, here, but I can't recommend any from experience.

Looking back over your original post I noticed that you were after a competition sub rated at about 1000W RMS. Well these days this is a baby class and wouldn't take down the big boys. There are many subwoofers out there and all have multitudes of different rating systems. The trap is finding what you like, both in price and sound quality.

Unless you plan on entering SPL contests you really don't need to waste time trying to find a competition sub. Head into your nearest car audio store (Autobarn is fine) and speak to one of their stereo guys they should be able to offer further advice to what you read here.

As with any purchase you should decide what sounds better to your ears. What Stone, Deph, Zero and I find appealing, may sound terrible to you.

FYI (For Your Information)

IMO - In My Opinion
SPL - Sound Pressure Level. The amount of bass squeezed into a tiny space, measured in dB (Decibels).
SQ - Sound Quality. The opposite of SPL. The pursuit of the perfect note rather than the most bass.

Good luck. The world of car audio can appear scary but once you get into it, you're hooked.

Pioneer 12" are very good.. I had one (checker plate style) in my VS and it rocked my spine :) It was powered by a Alpine V12 amp though ( if that makes a difference?)

ooooh i only said competion sub as i never seen any 12" 1000Wrms subs at autobahn so i assumed compeition was 1000wrms and up!

umm. autobahn didnt seem to have any big enough! although i could be wrong as i was in a fair hurry whilst there!!

well im thinking i be best going for real go SQ as my boot rattles at the moment and its going to be atleast twice as good a sub so yeh... it wont go any quitter if i go extremly good sound quality will it? it would be using twice the rms of the old sub

i will be looking at about $700? worth for it though...
