If it feels oily on your fingers, its the inlet manifold gasket.

Your water pump is gone. I had the same trouble on my VT 2. Radiator went, replaced it(no pellets added), brown sludge still there did my water pump no more sludge and has been like that ever since. The impeller shaft rusts after time causing the brown sludge.

I don't understand how the rust then turns into a slimy brown mush? It's not possible.

If it feels oily on your fingers, its the inlet manifold gasket.

That doesn't help much, because do you know what the pellets from Holden are used for? They are used to lubricate the water pump, a lubricant will feel oily/slimy.

i had this also it would be on the bottom of the radiator car and brown sludge on the bottom of the coolant dipstick. My problem was the manifold gasket was stuffed and it was mixing oil with water. Fixed it and now its pretty clean. Hope this helps

I noticed the same on mine earlier today. How much will it cost to replace the manifold gasket roughly?

No one has really p*ssed me off enough to warrant such action lol..

I wouldn't worry too much about the sludge my vt had the same thing and it never overheated or anything.
