Firstly, why would you want to tune so high (80hz)? I assume your using a sub as well?
If you want them to play 80hz and above, seal them. Ports are mainly designed for LOW bass extension. If those chambers are 0.97 cu.ft. each, a 3" port around 0.8" deep sounds right for a 80hz tune......have you seen the plot on a box building program though, i havent but i can imagine it'd have a huge peak around 80-90hz.......not really desireable for SQ purposes.
